First day of classes
Title of this post says all...my coursework is as follows:
The Latin American Novel
Garcia Lorca and his time
Intro to Ceramics (Super-excited about this one!)
English/Spanish Translation strategies
Grammar level IV
My grammar teacher is amazing. She's really sweet and laid-back...she said she's not going to give us any homework because we're here on such a unique excursion that w'ell never have again. She encouraged us to travel and take advantage of all the adventures that await us rather than wasting our time on busywork. And we spent a lot of time learning useful street vocab, and different ways to use common verbs. Stuff that I pretty much came here to learn anyway.
The Lorca class is a bit more dry...my teacher reminds me of my 10th grade English teacher Mr. Simmons. He's round, Santa Claus like, very eloquent, and very passionate about the subject.
In other news, Complutense has a chorus and is soliciting singers! Seeing as that I haven't sung since high school and miss it immensely, I am really hoping to get involved. The choir meets Friday nights at 8:30pm, but seeing as that Spanish nightlife doesn't start until midnight at the earliest, it won't be much of a hindrance. Here's to getting re-involved with my passions!
