I made it!
If life is truly about the journey and not the destination, don't ever take US Airways! I just had the most ghetto plane ride for an international flight ever... we didn't have individualized screens, the on-flight movie kept skipping and restarting, the food was subpar, and the turbulence was insane. But a 6 hr 45 min. flight, despite all that, still will never compare to the 14 hour flight to Vietnam, so for that I was grateful. the flight attendant was this bubbly somewhat-gay Brazilian man who had an unhealthy obsession with my stuffed Pooh bear...'unhealthy' meaning he kept reaching into my lap, taking Pooh and hugging him to his chest and going 'how cuuuuute!'.... yeah, creepy. Anyway, so we got here safe and sound and it was a gorgeous day, good weather and climate and all. We've spent the day just walking around Madrid's major areas and getting acclimated. Low-stresss, but I'm spending the night in a hotel, which is odd. \I'm anxious to move into my apartment tomorrow, and there I'll finally feel like I'm starting my trip.
One great thing is we don't start classes until the 30th. so we essentially have a week off to explore. Can't wait. More stories later!
